Storm Escape

Jun 5th, 2008 | By singletary | Category: Featured Article

This song branched off of Ciara’s “Like a Boy.” Those that know the song will definitely recognize it. I took the chord changes and pretty much improv’ed off of it.  I gave it an atmospheric and space-y sound, combined with the illusion of a thunderstorm.

Berceuse

Jun 5th, 2008 | By singletary | Category: Featured Article

I wrote this song in dedication to all my loved ones, especially my son. I wanted it to be beautiful, soft, peaceful, and sweet…sort of like a lullaby. I wrote it for piano because I want to be able to play it in full whenever I want. Berceuse is french for lullaby.

Your Nation

May 30th, 2008 | By Sulaiman Azimi | Category: Azimi, Sulaiman

This piece was inspired by the Bollywood films that my parents watched as I was a child. These films werre abundant in dancing, culture, and traditional Indian music. They are also one of the reasons I became interested in music as a child. You can certainly here the Middle Eastern influence as well.
For this assignment, I was required to create an original TTS-1Patch which can be heard in the piece along with several other instruments. Enjoy.

Buzz!

This song was a TTS1 project.  We had to create a song using the cakewalk TTS1.  I added rapture to my project to make it sound different and unusual.  My inspiration for this song was really nothing, but i wanted to make a really cool song that was random.

A Rock Song

May 28th, 2008 | By miller | Category: Featured Article

For this song I pretty much wrote whatever came to my mind. At first I visioned it as being a loud, joyous song for Easter with trumpets and other instruments but it ended up being just a instrumental rock song.

For this song I was required to use the TTS1 soft synth to right a song of my choice.

Watch yo’ mouth

May 23rd, 2008 | By singletary | Category: Featured Article

An “anonymous individual” refused to stop the “flow” of his profanity, despite what his partner chastised him about, so there is an angry undertone to the entire song, due to the frustration caused by his stubbornness. It’s all in a minor key and the chord changes foresee the coming of some monstrous thing. Therefore, this song will be entitled “Watch yo’ mouth.” The ending of the song sounds rough and unfinished, representing the effects that neglecting your morality will have during the course of a lifetime.

Miss You Maam

May 23rd, 2008 | By Sulaiman Azimi | Category: Azimi, Sulaiman, Featured Music

This piece is an instrumental for a single that I have yet to finish.  It was originally about really good friend of mine who moved to California, but the soft synths from Sonar took the whole song in a new direction.
For this assignment I was to create an original Sonar patch on Rapture. This patch is used throughout the piece.

I was inspired by other joyous songs that are unique.  The assignment was to create a Rapture song using the Rapture softsynth and adding Cakewalk tracks.

Pretty cool

May 23rd, 2008 | By miller | Category: Featured Article

I was inspired by all the sounds that were open for me to use for this project. The song is somewhat techno and rockish.

For this project I had to use patches I made from the Rapture and Cakewalk TTS-1 soft synths in Sonar 7.
